THE INCHCOLM BY OVOLO ~ WEDDING VENUE FEATURE

The Inchcolm by Ovolo in Brisbane ~ A Timeless Venue with perfect light

Amidst the bustling streets of Brisbane, with its vibrant blend of modernity and history, there lies a venue that captures the heart of Old World charm - The Inchcolm by Ovolo in Spring Hill.

Brisbane is home to numerous picturesque venues, but The Inchcolm by Ovolo holds a special place in our hearts. It isn’t just another wedding venue in Brisbane, it’s a historical masterpiece where time stands still a bit. There is elegance and charm woven into its walls.

Originally built in the 1880s as the residence of Dr. John Thompson, this boutique hotel's design draws inspiration from the interwar period, a time characterised by its innovative art, music, and literature. In the 1880s, probably no one envisioned that Dr Thompson’s residence would one day be a sought-after wedding venue and much-loved hotel, yet The Inchcolm stands today as a symbol of Brisbane’s rich history and architectural brilliance.

What we love the most about this venue is its perfectly moody light. In conjunction with the considered placement of strobe lights {external flashes positioned across a room to manipulate the light and create a specific ambience}, the angle and intensity of the natural light flowing through the windows in the foyer and in the Thompson Suite make for the perfect setting for wedding and editorial shoots. We keep coming back for more and always love working at The Inchcolm so much.

Your Wedding, Your Narrative

Every couple has a story, a narrative that is uniquely theirs. When you come together to celebrate your wedding, this takes centre stage. It's the ambiance, the decor, the style, the vows, and the photography that weave your unique narrative for all to see.

There's a magic in being yourself. From the clothes you wear to the choices you make in life, authenticity has always been the key to happiness. The same applies to weddings. At Lovelenscapes Photography, we've seen countless weddings throughout our career and time and again, the ones that leave a lasting impact are those that genuinely reflect the couple's identity.

Authenticity is the only truly timeless trend

In the age of Instagram and Pinterest, it's easy to get lost in the sea of cookie-cutter weddings and current wedding trends. While there's nothing wrong with drawing inspiration, your wedding should not be a mere replica. It should be a testament to your journey, your quirks, and your dreams. While trends offer a glimpse into contemporary styles, they should serve as an inspiration, not a blueprint. Your wedding should mirror YOU.

We will always encourage you to embrace authenticity and weave elements into your day that reflect your story and the things you love. Whether it's a theme inspired by a favourite TV series, a personal hobby, or a shared memory, let your wedding be a celebration of your journey. Let it be real. Let it be you.

Trends come and go. What was fashionable a decade ago might seem dated today. But authenticity? It's timeless.

We love working with creative souls

We feel immense joy when our wedding couples approach us with a creative brief. It's a challenge we love taking on, as it allows us to merge our creative talents with our couples’ dreams of a unique visual memory of their wedding day. It's about making the day look not just 'pretty', but authentic to who the couple is, adding cultural references and layers to the imagery.

For instance, our day with Charlie and Lexi at The Inchcolm was a stand-out creative experience. Their love for the 'Mad Men' series wasn't just something they enjoyed in their pastime. It was a slice of their story and a reflection of their style. They entrusted us with the task to insert some Mad Men vintage notes into their wedding photo collection.

And so our crew went downstairs at The Inchcolm and ordered a Bloody Mary and an Old Fashioned from the bar to feature in the photos. We then entangled the chords of a yellow and red vintage phone, set up some external lights to set the mood, asked the newlyweds to sit down, travel back in time, and - voila!

The beauty of working with creative couples is the harmonious blend of their vision and our expertise. It's not about standardised shots or typical poses. It's about living a moment, feeling it, and then, capturing it. It's about making wedding photographs look not just 'pretty', but resonating with meaningful references.

Our affinity for creative couples isn't coincidental. Creative briefs challenge us, inspire us, and push the boundaries of conventional wedding photography. Every unique request, be it a theme, a prop, or a setting, becomes a narrative tool, adding depth and dimension to the love story we're chronicling.

The Lovelenscapes Experience: More than Just Photography

Every couple’s story is unique, a narrative painted with dreams, shared moments, and irreplaceable memories. At Lovelenscapes Photography, our approach to wedding photography is akin to an author penning a novel. Instead of words, we use frames, angles, light, and shadows to narrate tales that are as genuine as they are beautiful.

We take the time to understand your story, your quirks, your shared memories, and your vision for the big day.

For those looking for the perfect amalgamation of history, beauty, and impeccable lighting for their special day, we can't recommend The Inchcolm Hotel in Brisbane’s Spring Hill enough. With its blend of history, charm, and impeccable lighting, it's the canvas awaiting your story.

Here's to love, authenticity and memories that last a lifetime.
