Hello Lovers, 

We will forever be grateful to Thi & Anthony for introducing us to the wine lover playground that is the Hunter Valley. In March, they invited us over to shoot their engagement photos at Scarborough Wines at sunset and then they whisked us away for oysters, bloody marys, lots of wines and fine food for dinner. It has now become a cherished tradition of ours to see them for dinner and try new restaurants with them whenever we pass through The Hunter for our trips between Queensland and Victoria.

Shortly after we shot their engagement, we caught up again in Brisbane for their big traditional Vietnamese wedding - our first! We were shooting alongside our cinematography mates from White Lace Films, though, who knew all about the traditions, so it was a breeze.

Originally built in the 1880s as the residence of Dr. John Thompson, The Inchcolm by Ovolo draws inspiration from the interwar period, a time characterised by its innovative art, music, and literature. In the 1880s, probably no one envisioned that Dr Thompson’s residence would one day be a sought-after wedding venue and much-loved boutique hotel, yet The Inchcolm stands today as a symbol of Brisbane’s rich history and architectural brilliance.

What we love the most about this venue is its perfectly moody light. In conjunction with the considered placement of strobe lights {external flashes positioned across a room to manipulate the light and create a specific ambience}, the angle and intensity of the natural light flowing through the windows in the foyer and in the Thompson Suite make for the perfect setting for wedding and editorial shoots. We keep coming back for more.

We did our engagement shoot with them and right from the start, Tina made us feel at ease and as though we were chatting to a friend. Tina, Doruk and Gabe then captured our wedding day, in April, from start to finish, with photography and videography.
